A Story of Savings
ReplyDeleteI hear this all the time and it’s ridiculous! “The Fire Board is spending my money wastefully”. Are you kidding me? Wake up!
Now let me get this straight. I pay $7.50 a month, or $90.00 a year to have emergency and medical services by calling 9-1-1 and knowing that they will respond from Duck Creek.
I personally saved $198 through my homeowners insurance, Nationwide, when we got the Class 6 ISO rating.
So I pay $90 a year to the CMFPD, and they saved me $198 per year.
Now how exactly is the Fire Board wasting my money?
I have listened to the prospective candidates declare one after another how they want to ‘heal’ the community, yet they continue spreading deception and lies about what the present Board has done, and outright lied about several Board members actions and service to our community.
ReplyDeleteIf this is the formula for ‘healing’ it will be a new way to get there that I’ve never seen before. What I have learned over the years is there is truth and wisdom in some old sayings my mom and dad use to say to me. A leopard can’t change it’s spots, these people are not about healing, they are about further dividing and pushing their personal agendas on the community. They want special service, if it snows, they want their road cleared first, if there are multiple emergencies in the area they want theirs taken care of regardless of where a common sense prioritization would put them.
Eddie Sachetti accused me a lying to him, I have discussed what was said with him personally and what transpired in several Planning and Zoning meetings, and what the final outcome was with the Commissioners several weeks later. There was no lie, but you don’t find him saying things have been cleared up, he’s someone who wants to quit paying for services and then get the services anyway when he dials 911. He stated if Zion View was removed not only from Snow Removal, but the CMFPD District, they would get service if they dialed 911 from CMFPD because they are the closest agency who could provide service. Sounds like freeloading to me, and I don’t think the community is healed by the thought of an entire subdivision getting free service and abusing the 911 system to get it.
The latest rumor has been brought to bear by another candidate, Hernan Garreaud. I see an email accusing volunteers of ‘threatening’ his medical patients. Accusations such as these should be investigated before emails are sent by second and third parties as to what actually took place. I have found it interesting that Mr. Garreaud was going to run for the Board in the first place. I have never seen him at a meeting, not even when the Board was discussing how to get the clinic up on the mountain. I also find it interesting he feels the finances need to be looked at, again from someone who never thought to come to a meeting and get some financial information first hand. I also wonder just how many meetings he will be able to attend with his clinic duties requiring him to be there on weekends. I am sure he is a fine medical person, but he is another one who does not find out for himself what is going on before he cast an accusatory finger, personal healing, probably, community healing, no way.
I know the kind of a job I’ve done these past four years, and I am proud of my service to our community. I have no problem discussing things face-to-face in an effort to get to the truth and put rumors in their place. I also have long been a supporter of assessments based on property valuation, this would give the lot owners a break and those who have improvements at risk would pay their fair share. Going to an elected Board will help this come about, it will not lower your property taxes as Eddie has claimed in his letter. The Fire Board does not have any effect on your property taxes, only the assessment added to your property taxes to cover the CMFPD funding.
In closing, we were branded liars when we went after our ISO rating and stated it would reduce insurance premiums, but many thankful people have received reductions two or three times what they pay for their assessment. We were wasteful when we purchased an additional Wildland Fire truck, but it has paid for itself with use over four times. The CPA conducting our audits advises we are unique in that we do not have to borrow money for our entire annual budget and operate in the black most, if not all year. I encourage you to vote, but not thoughtlessly, find out what is really going on at your CMFPD.
